Position Summary
Sanitation Team Members are responsible for keeping all areas of the distribution center clean, orderly, and in sanitary condition. Areas include the warehouse, refrigerated and grocery areas, offices, conference rooms, break room, restrooms, and more.
Primary Responsibilities
- Clean warehouse with hand brooms, power scrubbers and sweepers to meet company standards.
- Keep track of cleaning supplies and replenish as needed. Notify team member responsible for purchasing supplies of any impending shortages before supplies are exhausted.
- Remove and properly dispose of all refuse, recycling, cardboard, and broken pallets.
- Clean offices (including dusting), break room (including microwaves, refrigerators, and tables) conference room, restrooms and floors (including sweeping and mopping) and replenish paper goods and supplies as needed.
- Pre-shift warm up, meetings, and pre-shift equipment checks
- Change batteries in powered Operate powered equipment, including compactor/baler, pallet jacks, power washer, floor buffer and scrubbers and safety equipment.
- Utilize cleaning checklists and adhere to Safety and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
- Operate forklifts and other equipment to facilitate proper cleaning.
- Responsible for proper dress code. Steel-toe or composite-toe shoes must be worn.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader, Associate Team Leader, or Supervisor.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required
- 1 year experience in warehouse distribution center
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time, up to 6-8 hours.
- Bending, stooping, and climbing.
- Unassisted heavy lifting (minimum of 50 lbs.)
- Assisted heavy lifting and pulling (100 lbs maximum)
- Work in varying temperatures (coolers, etc. when needed).
- Ability to deliver information in a clear and concise manner to fellow team members and customers.
- Ability to comply with all policies and procedures.
- Meets all customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors and fellow team members.
- Ability to complete all tasks in a thorough and timely manner.
- Working understanding of and compliance with all quality goals, and thorough product knowledge.
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in recognizing and accomplishing all tasks where there is a direct job responsibility.
- High attention to detail and thoroughness in approach with all paperwork.
- Proper use of which may include but not limited to, knives, personal protective equipment, forklift, pallet jacks, hand trucks, six wheel carts, baler (must be 18 years of age or older) and all other equipment used during preparation and clean up within department and store.
- Able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the store, including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
